    Hi guy and gals,
Wasnt sure were to post this but i guess it is INTERNET related...Um i was wondering if ANYONE here know of a programe that can run (in the background) and scan for spyware whilst you are trying to surf the net and do the stuff we like to do..Also if you do know of one, can it get rid of it, tell you how you got it, what exactly does it spy on..etc etc etc.

The reason i ask this is because alot of custormers come in with it on there PC's and im not sure how to get rid of it, and unfortuntly i fell victum to the "banazia Bargin Buddy" one, you know the one were you click "NO" not to accept, then it pops up again and you have to click "yes" not to except...lol...tricky buggers..

Thanks alot, um also even if anyone know s a good website with good details on "Spy ware" and stuff like that...

    Regards
    Redghan

Yes I use SpyBot. Used Adaware for awhile, but they didnt update for a couple of months, then when they did, it started conflicting with other programs. So, saw this recommended on this board, and use it all the time. I recommend it.

I use Spywareblaster and Spybot. With the blaster running all the time, Spybot never finds anything.;)

Open Spywareblaster and check "Select All" (should be 290 items). Then click "Protect Against Checked Items ". This lets spywareblaster protect your computer from those items BEFORE they get there. Spywareblaster does not clean anything that is already on the computer. That is for Spybot and Ad-Aware to do.

Clicking on help will tell you everything.

It works in the background. I open mine every day and check for updates.

redghan101--Where did you see " that the new spy-bot updtae has a new parrt to the program, and it actually recomends useing spyblaster.." ?
The latest Spybot download page mentions a new Immunization feature (which sounds similar to Spyblaster), but I see no reference to Spyblaster, itself.

Well it only says it if you dont have spywareblaster installed..
But if you have a look "inside the spy bot program" under the new "Immunize" section. It says it right under the "cheak and Immunize" buttons..

Ill send you a screen shot if you want..

welshjim, if you open spybot and then click on IMMUNIZE & after you update the immunization look for a "Rectangular Box" that says "Check again "
Underneath that box there is a long statement in BLUE that says--- "If youwant more Active X protection we recommend Java Cools Spyware Blaster ". Click here to visit its home page>
And if you click on it --it takes you to Spyware Blaster Homepage.

    Do you recommend Spyware Blaster?

redghan101--Thanks for trying to post the URL of a screen shot here. As you guessed you have to upload it first to a web space site. On your other question, Ad-Aware and Spybot are similar in terms of your running scans with them to find (and delete) spyware that has already downloaded. SpywareBlaster, in the other hand, tries to stop spyware from downloading in the first place. It has to do with detecting the ActiveX content of the spyware. Many people run all three, since each is dependent on a data base of "baddies" which is independently developed by each (and has to be updated continually).
paul43--Thanks very much for your info. It is curious that Spybot would introduce the Immune feature and then suggest to still use SpywareBlaster as well. Maybe because of the reason mentioned in the last sentence in the paragraph above.
