    Hi,

I just downloaded an episode of Inside the Actors' Studio..

It was on YouTube, but only in 5 separate segments. Now I have all segments the desktop I renamed re numbers, but was wondering if there might be some way for me to "splice" them all into one video? These are, naturally, flv files.

I Googled and found this which I do not understand:

    http://club.myce.com/f32/can-i-combine-2-parts-into-1-a-155022/

    This is no kinda emergency.

    Thanks!

    Hold it....how about this?

    http://search.cpan.org/~cdolan/FLV-Info-0.24/lib/FLV/Splice.pm

OK, hold it! Says on the above page, it is possible this tool will produce unplayable movies.

    Seriously. It says that, OK?

Why do I find that hllarious? OMG.

I will now paste....cause it is amazing. Wit da respective binary code issue. OMG.

It is possible that this tool will produce unplayable movies, for example concatenating AVC content will likely fail because each segment has its own binary configuration block.

Try converting the .flv files to .wmv. The you can use Windows Movie maker to put them together.

The conversion program I use is called Super

Really???? I can convert the flv files?

In my brief but manic time on this site, I discovered VLC Media Player. Amazing. And it, has file converter built right in! Learned everyone but Jilly has knows aobut this marvelous player for years and years and years.

Thanks so much, let me try this before I run the new gz unzipper whose free trial I just got.

I have zero experience with messing with movies and videos.

Well! As I type, the new app is converting part one of five to avi! Slow but pretty amazing. Cept it says I have unregistered version and so watermark will be there all the time. Gotta see that to tell if it creeps me out too much.

Eventually I will try to make them into one avi file to play with my VLC Player.....whose file converter I can only hope is not feelng dissed right now.

Amazing. Took forever, but it worked! Now has adorable VLC player icon.

Thrilling! Cept the little logo thingy in the middle they call a watermark, grow up.....really is annoying.:( They want U to get the paid for version.

This is a big file, boy. the new converter.

For unknown & clearly irrational reasons, I did not think flv files could be converted. Ignorance is an interim phenomenon and nothing to ever be ashamed of. In fact it's a gift for anyone moved to learn, right? Think it's cause I chose my Wimpy player for flv so carefully and i like it so much that I believed what I did.

After I do the other 4.....will take until middle of next week, then I will learn how to mush them together using XP!

Thelma Schoomaker....eat yr heart out, right? ;)

    Many thanks!:D

    There should be no watermark.

Find the Video DirectShow Options and select 1.Watermark= Disabled
(Open the options panel by clicking on the Directshow Decode (D) Tiny switch)

I thought it was diabled by default, but this is a new version, seems to have a few more options then my version. I'll install the new version later and see what changes there are.

But the watermark CAN be Turned Off

    WAY???????????

You are being sooo kind, know how much I appreciate all this.:D

Now Ranger, if I find out how to turn the watermark off, do I have to do the files over with it turned off? I am doing other things but am already up to conversion five out of 5.

Also, in all the time I have bee running Widows.....Not that long but feels as if....this is the first time I ever even opened W Movie Maker. Howze them apples?

    Hi again,

If I may further exploit the smart & experience of my fellows---remember, this is the first time in my life I ever opened W Movie Maker---do I just drag each segment to the respective open clipboards at the bottom of the interface and then save?

Or hit merge or mush? Neither of which appears in the toolbar,;)

This is a maiden effort, after all.

I had no problem....what are your symptoms? Share.

Using the link do you see the deep red colored download button at the top slightly to the left?

    Hi agian,

    New Problem:

Figured out how to use W Movie Maker. but when I try to drag the first segment into the first clipboard window, I get the following error message:

The file C:\Documents and Settings\Jilly\Desktop\Costner one.avi cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again.

Now, how can that be? Each and every segment opens in my new VLC player and plays perfectly.

If I am missing codecs, how would that be possible?

OK....I get who is doing this: the guy in my The Bodyguard Poll thread in the UK who hates Whitney and that movie.;)

I will chill and await wisdom.

This is not an emergency.....have already learned many things I never knew and gotten stuff done!

    Holy Motha of Media...

I see many humans have the above issue. just found this:
    http://www.moviecodec.com/video-codecs/movie-maker-codec-5153/4

No way will I agree to get W Media Player back. Had enough trouble getting rid of it.

What kind of codecs can I feed it to make W Movie Maker happy? Where do I get them? Everyone else is happy. typical Microsoft petulance.

    Sigh.

OK I think I get this from the link I pasted above....that is, the page the link leads to. W Movie Maker is inexorably entwined.....peeps in the same TERRORIST CELL...with W Media Player which, after much work, I managed to EXPUNGE FROM THIS SYSTEM.

That is what I Now get troubleshooting this sickness, OK?

So, if I am to MERGE all five segments of this Inside the Actors' Studio episode, as is my simple, reasonable goal....I will never be able to do it using W Movie Maker. Not, that is, unless pigs learn to FLY.

This, boys and girls....is a PLOT. A CONSPIRACY! Soooo typical of them!!!!!!

    Sneaky Monkeys!!!!

Pls bear with me I am a little nauseated from this:

I first read and went into the evil Movie Maker and unchecked the 3filter I found in tools>options. One of them was Nikon. I guess from my sleazoid little camera.

Closed it, opened it tried agian oy drag first file, same deal.

I then went into Device Mgr>video audio game controllers, etc......and right clicked on Video codecs.

Said yes, go onto the net and fix this, please. Said nothing better than what I had was available.

I am starting to despise Microsoft.

Fie on them. I am going to find an open source Movie Maker that is warm and fuzzy and not in league with the devil & Bernie Madoff!

Edit: OK i just got something called VideoPad Video Editor. I have no clue but I hope it works without MS codecs. Because this....is INSANE.

That's OK.....I will struggle tenaciously & figure it out, been my MO from jump.....cept I am sooo tired, OK?

    1) Bill Gates is not simply avaricious and imperious, he is actually delusional!! He actually mistook The Jilly for Netscape! Are we getting this?

    2) This open source Movie Maker, VideoPad Video Editor....with fab icon with gold Hollywood Blvd star in center within a 35mm film background.....WORKS.

When I dragged each segment in sequence into the interface, each segment loaded with progress bar. No sleazoid error messages telling me I was missing arms, legs and codecs, OK?

Then I hit Make my Movie and Make my Day... and it started. Can make DVDs can make punkin pies, can make goulash and lasagne and cannoli.

Took just under 45 mins. If I could sit up I would say it was gratifying and thrilling.

But still an issue: when I went to play my first made by me but not really movie file I MY BELOVED VLC....it opened NOT with segment one.

Thing is total 420 MBs so I know it's all there. Inside the Actors' Studio episodes are under an hour.

I even had the good Memorex blank out to right away burn the new movie onto DVD.

I do not know what I did wrong or how to redo to get these segments in proper sequence, but I will figure it out. Maybe. Sigh.

When I can once again sit up and ambulate....I am going to uninstall W Movie Maker and kill all its registry keys. It can then join its brother, W Media Player, in the VERY, VERY speh-shall place with the flames & da pitchforks... reserved only for Microsoft apps.:D

Codec THAT, Bill....or that incompetent current CEO Bill went to Harvard with.:D

Mea Culpa and apologies to Bill (but not entirely).

I was wrong: W Movie Maker can, in fact, function without W Media player. I was, in fact, missing codecs.

    Figured out which, got them:
    Download [ FFDShow MPEG-4 Video Decoder 2010-01-03 ]

Installed them. Opened W Movie Maker, dragged one segment file, it worked. No more issing codecs error messaes. Sigh.

But there's the thing: I can not drag the five segment files into either of the Movie Makers and have them load IN PROPER SEQUENCE tho I drag them in proper sequence.

They seem to insist ending up in some ad hoc, random way each time.

I have tried everything and this is defeating me.

I am sure I must be missing something.

    What might that beeeeeeeeeeeeeeee?:confused::confused::confused:

    Thank you.
