    why when i start up outlook 6 it takes a minute for the splash screen to go ???

    There are a number of reasons but maybe the first to check has to do with MS Messenger....or Windows Messenger, whichever you have.

    In OE, go to Tools>Options>General tab and see if there is a checkmark next to "Automatically log on to Windows Messenger." If there is, uncheck it and see if that helps speed things up.

    OE splash

    have done as you suggested only to find messenger is already disabled, i did however keep an eye on startup icons bottom right of screen and noted splash screen went as messenger icon loaded, then email opened.

    also went into messenger options/preferences and in there run & allow are disabled too.

    in case i did'nt mention it i am running xp pro
