Thanks for the link to that test!

I have the Spire SP-420 from the dealer, to be used when I refit the processor/cooler on the new motherboard.

I read the results differently. If they state that Coollaboratory Liquid Pro is the best, Spire SP-420 must be among the worst performing ... :( ... !

The spread is 12.6 % between the best and the worst. The question is if it makes a "real life" (as opposed to "laboratory life ") difference?

I have used Zahlman ZM-STG1 (5.2 % down the list) in the past. Prior to collecting my motherboard, I thought that I'd try Arctic Silver 5 (2.7 % down the list) but the shop only had Spire SP-420 (which was included for free).

I think I'll shell out some cash and get Arctic Silver 5 instead. It may be worth it!

I agree but I'll wait a day or two. There may be someone who has actually used Spire SP-420 ... ... !

If the compound "cures" or "hardens" after a period of time or not, would be interesting information. I have removed coolers from processors and in some cases, it was like pulling teeth. The analogy is quite correct, the pins were drawn out from the socket because the compound had cured/hardened.

As I understand it, Arctic Silver 5 does not cure/harden but does Spire SP-420?

I left this thread hanging but eventually took the "Arctic Silver route ".
