But that's not my main concern. Something has/was changed because of spilling the drink. It was Vodka BTW. I have a sports message board and what has happened is, the font intensity and a few other subtle changes like link intensity when you roll your mouse over it has changed as well. I bought a new keyboard but nothing changed back to like it was. I rebooted into safe mode and pick the configuration choice of settings that worked before, no luck. I checked my computer settings on my desktop and it didn't seem like anything had been changed. I run Windows XP home edition. I can only guess that the liquid short circuited the keys and changed something but I can't figure out what. Also when I go to a different sports message board, their fonts look greyed out too. I asked my fellow admin if he saw aything wrong with the main page and he said it looked fine, so I know it's just my computer. Help.

Obviously you can replace the keyboard as one option. You can also disconnect it, wrap the connector with a baggie and a rubber band serving as a seal, flip it upside down on the top rack of a dishwasher without any of tonight's dishes or silverware, skip the soap and run it through a full cycle. Pull it out upon completion and pre-heat your oven to 325°. Turn off the oven, wait about 10 minutes and put the keyboard in there for about a half hour (upside down). When done you either have a working keyboard or a darn clean looking dead keyboard.

    ;)

I submerged my keyboard in water and sloshed it around a bit but that's not my main concern. My concern is what spilling the liquid did to the settings on my computer. I've since realized that it has changed the font size to a descriptive phrase on my main page as well. I'm at a total loss as what to do.

I forgot to mention that the liquid was spilled on the right side of the keyboard and even after I took it apart and wiped it clean, it still didn't work and the computer was still making a beeping noise. I forgot to mention the beeping noise earlier, sorry.

You will be lucky if the keyboard is your only problem now. You've got but one option - replace it.

If you read my original post again, you'll see that I said I had already replaced my keyboard. I tried rinsing the one that was subjected to the spillage to see if it was salvageable. It hasn't had time to dry yet so I don't know whether it's useable or not. Do you have any ideas about what's wrong with my computer?

Call me dumb - I missed the replacement. As to whats wrong now - please don't submerge the computer trying to figure it out - you shorted something with that Kettle One keyboard. If USB, try PS2 or if PS2, try USB - Good Luck

I just wanted to report to all of the gurus on here that I figured out the problem. I was sitting at my computer this morning when I remembered that if you hold down the Control (Ctrl) button and turn the wheel on the mouse, size and intensity of things increase or decrease. That was it and now I'm a happy camper. I'm also wondering too, if I had said I had spilled water on my keyboard instead of Vodka, would I have gotten more responses to my cry for help?

No, not at all. However, you failed to mention the brand which would have a direct correlation to both views and responses. Glad to learn that you have it figured out, just stay away from the flavored Vodkas and you should be OK the next time that glass won't seat properly.

I don't think the type of drink you spilled was a problem. However, if you had offered a free bottle of vodka to the one with the correct answer; that may have gotten you some attention. ;)
