I have the Netscape 7.0 Stand Alone version which has no spell checker. Is there a place I can DL just the spell checker?

Also, I got an E-mail that was supposed to have an attachment but no attachment was there. I did a search for attachments in this forum but all the talk was about versions that are different than 7.0 Stand alone.

    Thanks

    Hi Bill,

There is an XPI Component Directory which does include a spellchecker. However, you indicate that you are using the Stand Alone Version of Netscape. That Version has no Mail?

On not being able to receive attachments, is this Communicator, or another Version of Netscape 7?

    Thanx,

    Ramona :D

    Hi Bill,

    Check your settings in Preferences:
Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings | Disk Space. Your problem could be caused by your setting there.

    If not, let us know.

    Never mind on the attachments....

I sent myself an email with an attachment and it is fine. The email sent to me probably didn't have one sent properly.

    Hi Bill,

To install the Spellchecker, you first need to enable software installation. This setting is found in Advanced | Software Installation.

Then, with the browser open, double click the .xpi file on your HD, and it will then install. A window appears warning you that a site is about to download a file to your PC. It's no biggie and you can proceed with the install.

You really didn't have to download the .xpi file, you can click on the file, and it will automatically install.

If you have any problems, let us know.

OK, did that and it did what you said. I open Mail program and compose and misspell words and they just sit there. How do you turn the spell checker on?

    Hi Bill,

Try Preferences | Mail & Newsgroups | Composition. Enable: "Check spelling before sending.

Let us know if this worked!

    Good morning Ramona,

I don't have anything that says "Check spelling before sending "

I have two sections under Composition:
Forwarding and Replying to Messages and Composing messages.

    Hi Bill,

I'm not sure what's going on here, but take a look at this Screen Shot. You can see where the option for "Check spelling before sending ", should be located.

When you installed Spellcheck, did you get a "Success" window after the install?

The Spellcheck component should appear here: ~\Netscape\Netscape 7\components\spellchecker.

    Ramona,

    I have it now. :D

I went to the link you posted and went back to where it is for NS 7 instead of NS7.0_PR1.

    I installed and nothing.

I rebooted and now it is there.

    Thank you for your help!!!!

    Hi Bill,

Good to hear you have your spellchecker up and running. I changed the above link for the XPI directory, to reflect Netscape 7.0. Thank you!
