When you start up your computer by logging on or whatever the computer automaticaly loads up programs. You can close these programs by pressing Ctrl Alt + Delete and selecting any one of the programs excepting Explorer and repeating until the others are gone. Some programes may take 2-3 times to go away.

    Hi Timothy
    Welcome to the boards!

Perhaps go into msconfig, and under the start up tab, uncheck any unneccessary things from running at start up.
(start...run...type in: msconfig click ok...and check under the start up tab)
Here are two links to tell you what those items are:
    Msconfig entries
    More of the same

If you're unsure of what's safe to uncheck. Just ask us.

    Recent and updated virus scan?
If not....Maybe start with one of the free online virus scanners then?

    Housecall
    Grisoft
    Panda
    Symantec

    And for Trojans.....might I suggest:
    Tauscan

    Checked for Spyware ?

Dusted your computer out lately with canned air?
