I visit plenty of message boards, but there is one in particular that will kill my internet connection to the point I have to login to my router's admin panel and "test my connection ", which seems to stop/start internet connection cleanly.

    Connection: DSL
    Firewall: Kerio Personal Firewall
    Router: Netgear 54G
    O/S: WinXP SP2

Is there any app out there I can use to monitor the connection as I hit this particular site to see exactly what's causing this? Or should I just use the IP in the URL instead of the DNS? ping and tracert don't seem to be that helpful.

Unlikely it's the site that kills the connection.
    What's the URL?

Sorry, I forgot to paste that detail :)

Click the "Forum List" link in the top bar. I'm able to click around a few of the forums but over time, my connection gets degraded and then can't load anything. Another interesting feature I've noticed too, is when I try to post something, it won't work until I disable my firewall.

That site is currently unavailable. Must be the site is having problems or undergoing some changes.

It loads right now, and I have to say, it's pretty fast loading board.
No problem with browsing it, here.
