Most spam checkers help control unwanted mail, but when it takes over your e-mail program, well I for one want nothing to do with it.

My nightmare started when I installed a spam program called Spam Inspector for a 15 day trial period. After installing the program I decided to uninstalled the program, I thought. My uninstall seem to work, but my e-mail program (Outlook Express) is still being controlled by the spam's program settings, including inserting its advertisement in my e-mails. I have tried everything I know to eliminate this mess, including restores, installs, uninstalls, searching and deleting, but nothing works. Apparently this spam program has inbedded itself permanently somewhere in my computer. Does anyone have any suggestions concerning this mess? I have requested help from the owner of the program, but so far I have received no response.

Perhaps the ad in the email is just a signature file. To get rid of it open OE, click tools>options>signatures. Once you've removed it delete the file it refers to.

  3. to hide this advert.

    Spam Checker

The ad in the email was in my signature file. Thanks for the tip. But my e-mails are still being blocked, even those the program has been uninstalled. Do you or any one else have any thoughts about how to disable this monster.

    Thanks,
    Bob

That's about all I can help you with. Sorry. You might have a look at the following link but it refers to reinstalling the program (a newer version) and then uninstalling it. Sounds like you may have already tried this.

Have you looked in the registry for any entries for Spam Inspector?

    HKEY_CURRNET_USER\Software, & HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software.

If you do find a folder in either one or both places for Spam Inspector, make absolutely certain it is for that program by expanding it's + sign, if it has one, & looking at the individual entries. Then delete the main Spam Inspector folder\folders.

If you are not comforatable editing the registry, by all means don't try it.:) It's not a place for the faint of heart.:)

Or you can try using EasyCleaner 2.0 Beta: http://www.toniarts.com/betas.htm, a very good program. See if it finds anything. If so, delete what it finds.

    and: Spybot S&D: http://spybot.safer-networking.de/index.php?lang=en&page=download

Download, install, update, read the help, then run. It can find quite a lot of stuff. Spybots, Malware, Adware, & etc., but don't know if it will take care of the problem. It's a darn good program though.

Run a find files & folders from the Start Menu. Type in Spam Inspector. May not find anything, but worth a try.

An uninstall does not remove "all" of the files of most programs. They should, but usually don't, and some registry entries are always left behind too.

Hope you can get it fixed.

Please post back & let us know.
