This is so weird... in Word (97), if I have to edit or correct a word,
say, for spelling or Caps, when I go back and then type forward again the "Langoliers" eat all that I've typed already.
    For example...

the quick brewn fox jumped over the lazy

When I go back to edit the word "brewn "; as soon as I delete the "e ", I've lost the "w" then the "n" and soon on. I end up having to re-type the entire passage, paragraph, etc. (The "Langoliers ")

The worst part is that it only happens occasionally, and I can't duplicate it! It just takes FITS!!!

    Anyone?

Sounds like you're hitting the "Insert" key (just to the right of the top row of keys on your keyboard) by accident.

If what you're typing is replacing what was already there, press the Insert key once to toggle over to "insert" mode. If it's inserting text instead of replacing, press the Insert key again to toggle back to "replace" mode.

The Insert key will override the settings of Word so if in Tools>Options>Edit you have "typing replaces selection" checked it still won't replace text if the Insert key is in "insert" mode.

    Miz is a Wiz

How do you "guys' know all this stuff??? I even looked around in Word to see if there wuz somethin' I could un-click before I posted. Of course; it worked! The "typing replaces selections" box was checked. I unchecked it and no more problem.

    Thanx again:)
