SP4 set up failure

    When I attempt to set up SP4 - it fails with the cryptic message "an error in updating the system has occurred" and then proceeds to uninstal everything it has done. Has anyone any ideas about this? Is it worth the hassle? Shall I better leave well enough alone and stick with the exisiting SP3? :confused:

    Are you trying to do this update through Windows update site or from CD?

    If from the update center try downloading the full install and updateing locally. I had this problem with Office XP update site. I could not sucessfully update. Downloaded the full installs and all went fine.
