Does anyone have any ideas that might help me get XP-sp3 to recognize the scanner half of my Hp F335 all-in-one printer? When I click on the "Scanner and Camera Wizard ", I get the following mesasage: "The computer cannot detect the scanner or camera ". But, I can print to it and I can copy documents on it, just no scanning. DPI.

Hi, when you go to Device Manager, is your HP unit shown in Imaging Devices?
Have you tried > Action > Scan for Hardware changes?
Also > View > Show Hidden Devices? Neil.

The device is in the device mgr. under "other devices" but it has no driver associated with it and when I try using the install hardware wizard to install it, it can't find any drivers for it. Now is where it gets crazy, I go to the Hp site and download the drivers, then I try to install them and I get a message that a newer version of the drivers is already on my machine. Talk about a catch 22, THIS IS DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!!!! If I didn't need my scanner, I'de just say to h--L with it. DPI.

Have a look in Windows Explorer and see if you have an HP driver entry. You should be able to copy and paste. Sorry about lack of detail as I'm scrambling to get out. Will be away for about 6 hours. Hopefully someone else will step in and assist. Cheers Neil.

I somehow got xp to recognize the driver for my printer. I have NO idea what I did BUT you can bet your life that I have a backup of my "C" drive and a restore point to get back here if I need to. Thx for the advice and I am going to mark this thread as resolved(even if I don't know how) DPI
