My laptop computer autoupdated and installed service pack 2. I use a static ip configuration and can no longer ping my laptop from another pc on the network. I have tried turning off windows firewall and even stopping the service but the IP address is still unreachable. Anyone know of a fix?

Do you have Cisco VPN client? If so, turn off its "stateful firewall. "

Do you have a software frewall installed, even if disabled? Some have reported Norton Internet Security automatically turned on after installing SP2.

Some have reported that the Windows firewall must be stopped and then set to "disabled" in Administrative Tools>Services before it's actually turned off.
