SP2 Setup Cancelled - error

    I have tried several times to update to SP2 but the installation always fails.

    It inspects the machine, then
    Backups lots of files, then
    inspects the registry then

    fails with a dialogue box saying setup cancelled.

    Can anyone help?? I can send you a copy of the svcpack.log file if that would help.

    Is that the problem ? Is there a different upgrade that I need?

    Which version of Media Center? If you have MCE 2005, then you don't need to install SP2 as it is already included in that version.

    Windws XP Media Version

    Hi, thanks for the reply. I have a continual annoying alert which tells me that XP SP1 will drop out of support soon.

    From control panel and help, Windows is reported as -

    Version 5.1 (build 2600.xpsp2.050301-1526 : Service Pack 1)

    Upgrade to XP Sp2

    Hi,

    Yep been on the update site and it offers me 16 update files which simply fail.

    I am completly flumuxed !

    Can you post some relevant parts of WindowsUpdate.log here?

    You'll find that log file in the \Windows\ directory.
