Having installed SP2 RC1 2096 on my XP-Pro I find that both Help and Support and System Info will not function....they try to initialize but then nothing. No errors. Event viewer shows nothing.
msinfo32 also not working.Otherwise all else is ok.

Prior to installing 2096 I had been running 2055 successfully without these particular problems or any other issues.
I thought that uninstalling 2055 maybe the possible cause [this has to be done b4 you can update to 2096] but I can confirm that both services still function ok after the 2055 uninstall.

    The RC1 2096 install goes in perfectly.....or so I thought !!

I have gone through the uninstall/install process twice now using imaged backups just to monitor situation but still end up without the Help & support and System info functions working.

Just wondered whether anyone else has been down this road yet and could let me know if this is a bug or "my" problem.

    cheers
    Andro

As you are running pre-release software you need to let Microsoft know of this possible bug. Yours may only be machine specific but MS should be informed. After all that would be the only reason for installing pre-release SW that is integral to system stability.

I have indeed signed up to the microsoft RC1 "Bug" reporting facility and have fired off an initial report already.

Full Diagnostic start up from msconfig did not resolve issue so I have just slipstreamed RC1 and will try a clean install into a spare partition.

    regards
    Andro
