SP2 problem with Winxp on Dual boot system

I have WindowsXP Pro installed on 2 separate partitions of my Desktop. 1 Instance updated to SP2 without problems but the 2nd instance does not show SP2 in automatic updates and when I try a manual install it fails and uninstalls all changes part way through. I also keep getting an automatic update download and install of Hotfix KB835732 which shows up as successfully installed several times in the update history. Suggestions would be most welcome.

 

Your event logs should have some detail when the manual update fails.

Is the same OS load failing on SP2 and giving you bogus info about that hotfix?

Is this problem on both installations or only on the one with the SP2 problem?

Have you tried manually installing SP2? It's available as a stand alone download at the MS download center - approx 166 MBs.
