I searched and couldn't find anything to help me understand my problem. I'm hoping someone can educate me!
I'm running WinXP Home edition. Installed on this computer since 2001, only changes have been doing standard updates. I've had occasional problems trying to run updates within the past year or so.
SP2 is failing to install. It gets to a point where it says it is "Backing up File OEM37. INF" At this point it freezes and won't respond. I have to cancel out and I've tried multiple times.
I must have some kind of conflict, but I have no idea where to start fixing this. Any help is appreciated.

    Hello Viridis8,

SP2 seems to be stalling on backing up OEM37. INF - which BTW shouldn't have a space between the period and I. If this is not a typo - I don't know what that would mean, but it could be causing a problem.

Try this: finding it and either changing it's name by one charecter or copying it off the system and deleting or both.

FYI: What .INF file extensions are http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/workshop/delivery/download/overview/inf.asp

    Regards - Charles

    Hello, thanks for the reply.
I don't think it had a space, that was me typing it incorrectly.
I can search for that file and delete it to see if that helps SP2 avoid getting hung up.
