I have Windows XP Media Center installed on my computer. How do I shut off all the sound devices on my computer so that when I get an error screen or start up my computer or whatever, I don't get any sound at all? Thank you.

    Goto Start > Control Panel
    Select Sounds and Audio Devices
    Select the "Sounds" tab
In the drop down box for "Sound Schemes" select "None ".

And click apply. A box will or should pop up asking if you want to save the sound scheme or not. Just answer that anyway you want. Personally I always say no, but if you want to save it you will need to enter a name for the scheme you are turning off.
