    Hello

Can anyone recommend a freeware sound recording software ulility similar to Windows Sound Recorder? Alternatively if anyone knows how to make Windows Sound Recorder record for more than 2 minutes that would suffice. We're simply recording through the mic and want to save as .wav files.

    Thanks for your help.

    Cheers!

Would you believe a Microsoft "how-to-do-it" article?

    Audacity
    Exact Audio Copy
I've never used Audacity so I can't tell you much about it. Exact Audio Copy works good. The only problem is there's not much in the line of help so you have to kind of poke around and figure things out for yourself. To record a wav file with it, click tools>record wav, select a file name and then click start. It also has a small wav editor, can rip cds', convert wav files to mp3, also mp3 to wav etc.

    Just for the record

Sorry for the delay in responding to your suggestions. We installed the latest version of Audacity and the Lame MP3 plugin, and it works brilliantly.

Thanks for all your suggestions (and thanks to people who work on open source software).
