No sound on new PC. No downloads, patches, upgrades...etc. that would have caused conflicts. There is no sound icon in systray. I ran a msinfo32.exe and it indicated the sound card was there and working properly with no conflicts. I went into multimedia to the sound page and the volume lever is all the way at the left side (no sound). The box to enable the sound icon is grayed out. I don't know where to go next. Any suggestions?

There's a checkbox that puts volume control on the taskbar. In playback properties, make sure that devices you want sound from are not muted and are enabled.

As I said in my post, the check box for sound icon is grayed out.
