Have you loaded the drivers for the sound card?

I reinstalled all the drivers and media 7.1 as I said the speakers work in the DOS mode but not under windows. It worked before I reformatted.

Hi bkfishel, welcome to the board.
Have you looked in the Device Manager to see if the sound card is listed and working properly?
Right click My Computer>Properties>Click on Device Manager. Are there any items with a red X or yellow !. Under Sound, Video click the + and see if your sound card is listed.
