I seem to have a problem playing any & all CD's or even music off the internet. When downloading something, the sound becomes garbled, slows and sometimes cuts out.

Any suggestions on how th remedy this. Did do a search on updating sound card driver but found nothing. Sound card from VIA Tech. Inc. VIA AC'97 audio controller.

    Thanks...

It looks like you have an onboard sound chip - AC'97 is very common on modern boards. If you log onto your motherboard manufacturer's web site and search for drivers for your specific board you should find the audio drivers listed there.

Thank you, did that and updated most of the drivers. However, still have the same problem. Checked sound card to make sure it was in place as well as speaker wires.

I guess I will have to live w/it until I can get it into the shop.

Sounds like a PCI add-in card. Try putting it into another PCI slot, one at the end near the edge of the motherboard. This will automatically reinstall the drivers as well as reallocating the resources.
