Sound cutting out

Hello,

Just recently the sound on my computer started cutting in then out. One speaker would cut out then the other. The problem is the speakers were still working as you could feel the vibrations. I was just wondering if this could be a sound card problem or a conflict with a program on the computer (Kazaa Pro). I don't know if this is the right place to ask this question but any help is appreciated. The sound also appears to cut out especially while using Kazaa. Could there be adware or a virus that does this?
