I'm not sure if this question belongs here or in the XP section. I am experiencing a problem with my Turtle Beach Santa Cruz sound card. When I was running Win 98, I never had a problem with it. But since installing Win XP Home, I have to re install the sound card drivers about every third cold boot. The computer will run fine, then upon re booting, I get the message that new hardware has been found. If I dont un install the re boot and the re install the drivers, my comp will not have any sound. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Try the following ...

First log on to Turtle Beach and make sure you have the latesr XP drivers and look for any special instructions for loading them. Then ....

In Device Manager remove(uninstall) the card.

In Add/Remove programs uninstall any software related to the card.

Shut down PC and physically remove the card.

Check the contacts are clean - a soft pencil eraser is fine for a clean up.

Reboot the m/c and shut down.

Re-install the card. reboot and re-install the drivers/software following any specific method noted on the web site.

If this fails to work try the card in another PCI slot and, rather than allow New Hardware Wizard to install the drivers do it manually - if possible.

    Hey Pete,
Sorry it took so long to reply, but I've had an unbelievable work schedule lately. Anyway, I finally got a chance to re seat the card like you suggested and it seems to be working. I guess it was a hardware problem, and not the upgrade to XP that did it after all.
    Thanks for your help!
