    http://download.cnet.com/C-Media-AC97-Audio-Device/3000-2120_4-154785.html

Download the driver from the above link and save it to My Documents. It is a .zip file so you need to right click on it and select extract here. Then go through Device Manager and right click on the device and select properties. Select driver tab and click on update driver. Then follow the prompts and browse to the file.

Followed your instructions, it removed the driver, restarted and I updated, but the yellow exclamation is still there...

In the properties it says This device cannot start. (Code 10)

Follow link and instructions for updating your system specs. The software sublink "SIW" will provide the information we seek.

Also the reason I looked to see if there was a problem in the first place was because my microphone wasnt working, went and bought a new one but it still isnt working, Im guessing its because of this?

The A97 Audio is on your motherboard but will be disabled by the PCI audio device. Try removing the card (with power off) and then reboot. The onboard audio should then start to work, check in Device Manager that the yellow triangle has gone or try to reinstall the driver again.

If I've got this right you will probably find that there is a fault on the PCI card.

It's me that needs to apologise, just checked your motherboard specs and the Sound is integrated, I will see if I can find the dedicated sound drivers.

The asus site does not list your motherboard but a far as I can tell the sound driver you have already tried is the correct on.

Try this troubleshooting guide from microsoft. If this does not resolve the issue you may find that the onboard sound has failed in which case installing a sound card will be the easiest option.

Just to make sure you do not have a sound card, when you look at the back of the PC there is a bank of sockets in a vertical plate, is that where the sound connects or is it in a connection on a horizontal plate.
