Resolved Sorting Excel Workbooks By Month

Does anyone know how to sort Excel (2007) workbooks by month?

I made a list of 12 templates and each one is labeled for a month of the year, and sorting by date does not work.

Windows 7 gives you a heap of sort by options, but it would take hours to sort through all those categories (I have tried about a dozen so far).

I wonder if I could change something in the properties section of each template for sorting purposes?

Windows 7 allows a person to add tags to a file, and in my case, I added numbers 01 to January's workbook file, and 02 to February's file, and so on. The next step was to right-click on an empty space in the file storage folder and select "Sort By" and choose the "More..." option at the bottom of the context menu. From there, a "Choose Details" box opens up, and then I scrolled down to "Tags" and checked that box to add this option to the sort list.

The next step was to right-click in the storage folder again and select "Sort by tags ". Now, my Excel workbooks are in proper monthly order.

This (tags) option is a handy feature in Windows 7 in case you haven't discovered it yet. All you have to do is to hold your mouse over (or single click on) a file, photo, etc., and you will see a list of editable details at the bottom of the web page.
