I am trying to help a user who has a problem with the Sort function in his Inbox.

Normally, when you click on an email from a particular person, then sort by "From," the sorted list will have the same email selected. So if you click on an email from Jane Doe, then sort by From, you can see all the emails by Jane Doe grouped together.

On this user's Inbox, when you choose an email and then sort by From, the selection jumps to the top (so now for example an email by John Anderson would be selected. You get the idea). The desired emails are lost off the bottom of the page and the user has to scroll to get to them.

Has anyone seen this before? Any ideas on how to fix it?

I couldn't reproduce the problem in my 2003....

Right click on the column header FROM
    Select Customize Current View
Make sure Group by is set to None
Click the Sort button and select Received - descending
Close ot of the custom screen

Select a person in the from column and click the FROM column header to see if it helps.
