Hard to find a solution for this, it could possibly be caused by the CD being dirty. Make sure all your disc are clean and scratch free.

If this does not work please tell us the model name and number of the PC. Do you know if you have a recovery partition on the PC.

It might be that one of the recovery CDs is scratch since I've had the together and for quite a long time. I do have a recovery on the hard drive but I am not able to access that anymore since my computer won't even turn on anymore. Could I still access that somehow?

I think you mean boot up as opposed to won't power up?

When you boot do you not see a message such as press Fx for Recovery? The instructions should be in the Manual.

As markmadrsa posted what is the model no & name of your Sony?

Have you looked at it? Is it scratched or not? Cleaning it with a soft cloth and a little rubbing alcohol may help.

So, now you have a computer that will not switch on? Can you hear any noise from the PC when you push the power button? Are any lights coming on or is it completely dead?

You need to accurately describe what is happening so I/we can assess the problem. Please also give us your PC name and model number.

Please also tell us what the symtoms were that prompted you to run the recovery discs.

It is a SONY VAIO VGN-N130G.
When I try to Power it on, I get a message that says "operating system not found ".
I will now try to clean that 7th CD with rubbing alcohol and see if it works.
The reason why I used the recovery cds is because I had had an imitation of windows set up on it, something called "angelical "? and wasn't too happy with it so wanted to get the computer back to the original factory version of the computer and install XP again.

The message 'Operating System not found' is not unexpected as you have initiated the Recovery process and the drive has been formatted - thus there is no operating system as the process is incomplete.

The manual for your Sony makes no mention of a Recovery partition, in fact it does not mention recovery at all :(

If cleaning the CD makes no difference I would try copying it on another computer.

If making a copy of the disc does not work you then have two choices.

    Buy a new OS.

Or, you could use a borrowed copy of Windows XP, but it must be the same version that you have the Product Key for.
