I have a Sony laptop VGN-AR300N series about a yearold. It had a 60 gig hard drive in it. I changed out the hd to a 120 gig and have the recovery disks sent directly from Sony. I installed the new hd & the recovery disk is not showing a hd in the computer.
I did also replace the hd in another Sony laptop & I had no problems with the recovery disk working on the other computer. It had Windows XP. And the AR300N has Vista. Is there something I am missing on this install. Please advise

Guessing that it's a SATA drive?....Look in the BIOS for an option to put it in IDE mode.

How do I do that? I tried getting into the Bios by pressing F8. I keep getting sent to the Rescue disk menu.
    Thanks for the reply

    F8 is windows safe mode...

It should show you what to press to "Enter Setup." F1 and DEL are two popular keys.
