Hi everyone, just about to get my feet wet with DVD burning, as I'm about to get into doing a home movie duplication business, for copying people's home movies to DVD. I also am a discjockey that rips lots of discs onto hard-drive for producing radio programs.

I want to buy the sony as I've used sony products for twenty years, and have never had a problem with them, but have got a little worried of late, as i've read some reviews that sony are now contracting their dvd burner manufacturing to Lite on. Lite on have had a bit of bad press of late in Australia. Can somebody confirm this about sony and lite on?

I then again want to get the Pioneer instead, as it will allow me to rip my copy controlled discs, so I can play them on my radio station, but am hesitant as I've never used a pioneer product before in my life.

Just want some feedback on the ease of installation. Can I use any burning software? do I have to stick with the manufacturers. What are peoples experiences with these two external DVD burners?

I have a Pioneer 109 not external though and it behaves perfectly.

For burning I find these 3 products do everything I want. DVDShrink (free), Deepburner (free) and Nero 6 (cheap).

I would also back Pioneer - recommended to me by a friend who has a 'business' burning DVD's - I've been well satisfied (Pioneer 106 internal)
