I don't know what might be in there (most likely a needle) nor how I can get it out. Does anyone know what might be of good use? It seems like the sucker is lodged in there somehow.

If there is no part protruding, one of the only things I can think of is to find a nail (a panel nail?) that has a head that is narrow enough to go in. Put a small amount of super glue on the head and hold it against the object until it dries. Carefully pull it out.

On the internal side of the connector (jack) there will be a cover. If it is a PCI soundcard you might be able to remove the cover (it may clip or bolt on), if it built-in sound on the motherboard the cover may soldered or clamped on. If you can remove the cover, you should be able to push the object out from the inside. Be carefull not to scratch any of the electrical traces.

If you can't get further, take it to your local television repairer.

    If its iron, try magnet.

If it fails, disconnect the tower and try shaking it with your audio out face down. Let gravity do the work for you.:p
