Hi folks I am new here and would really appreciate some help!

Basically I installed a new motherboard yesterday. XP (Pro upgrade) did not like this and would crash half way through loading up. I managed to boot off the setup disk and on selecting install setup gave me the option to repair the current installation. I selected this option and windows appeared to go through the insall process.
ok all well so far I got XP running again and now I had to re-activate windows which I did succesfully online.
XP is running well but the problem I am having is that I am unable to install updates! The little yellow shield is permenantly in the taskbar... At first it was just Windows Installer 3.1, which I have now installed succesfully after someone showed me how to do this manually.
Now the list is huge! see screen shots below!

TBH I am not so sure if Windows quite knows what I have installed - I go to the update site and look at history I get told that I don't have a history!

I find some of the security updates interesting! Windows Media 6.4? Oh and the list is now much bigger than this!

I would really appreciate it if someone could help me get to the bottom of this without me having to do a fresh install!!

    Thanks,

    Olly.

No need to be sorry - happy to point you to a solution which worked for you :) Searching is not always intuitive - I had the benefit of involvement in that thread which was still fresh in my mind.
