some sites work, some don't

Hi
I am having this problem with both Internet Explorer and Netscape.
Some sites I can access just fine. Others sites consistently say "timed out" when I try to access them. I am using a wireless connection.
Anyone can help?

I tried to log on to Microsoft.com to see if I could find help, but it times out. I tried to check a hotmail account, and I received the following message, "The connection was refused when attempting to contact hotmail.com "
I'm in a bit of a bind because I am out of the coutry, I don't know where to find support, I can't access a brokerage account, important email, ...
I need the computer / internet on a daily basis and I'm in a pickle.

Could it be a virus? I have Kaspersky and everything is updated and it doesn't say there is anything wrong. I dislike computers.

It could be spyware. Have a look at PeteC's article on keeping a PC free of problems. In particular, have a look at the AntiSpyware section. Installing and running "Spybot search and destroy" is probably the place to start.

if you are already infected.
But if you are away from your normal ISP (in a foreign country) perhaps the ISP you are now using is flaky? You do not mention the country. Some countries block access to specific sites.
Is the hotmail message the only message you are getting?
