Some CD's Won't Run

    Hi all, I have my new laptop and so far everything is OK with it except that some CD's won't run. At first I thought that this was because the battery was low, so, I charged it up and still the same. I am trying to install Microsoft Works 8.5, but as soon as the auto-run option opens and then I click run, the disc just stops spinning and then nothing else happens. Any ideas? Oh, and I am running on Windows Vista.

    I would not be at all sure that Works 8.5 is compatible with Vista ....

    and 8.5 appears to be OEM which means

    It came with it, it was part of the deal that they offered. I noticed that if I explore the file, and then click on the installation file, it will then initiate the installation process, just not when I click 'run' after the auto run dialog box has opened.

    I suspect that the CD has a minor fault in one of the early sectors. I have found over time that a few CD's which should autorun do not and I really haven't lost sleep over it.

    If you can install by double clicking the .exe file through Windows Explorer I would leave it at that.
