I have 2 bookmarks at the bottom of the list that below a separator bar and cannot be moved beyond that bar. They do nothing and can not be deleted. How strange is that?
Unfortunately one of them is a site I use regularly, so I have no link to it until I solve this problem.

Can you get the URL for the site, and, then save it as bookmark? Does it include a login?

All you need to do is to follow cor-el instructions (3rd post). Pretty much step by step.

Not sure how to save a URL other than using "Bookmark this pg ".
No it doesn't begin to load. Nothing at all happens.

    Broni,
I made the bookmarks html file
But don't know where to go from there.

Try to reset the places.sqlite database file.

    * Export your bookmarks to a HTML file in "Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Export HTML ". You can put that file as bookmarks.html in the Firefox profile folder and replace a bookmarks.html file that was leftover from Firefox 2.

I have the file saved to my desktop - I don't know where the Firefox profile is found.

    * Delete places.sqlite and places.sqlite-journal (if present) and move away all the bookmarks-yyyy-mm-dd.json backups from the bookmarkbackups folder.

Don't know where to find places.sqlite, etc.

You're not reading carefully enough. There is a clickable link: See Profiles: How to find your profile

places.sqlite, etc. are located in profile folder.

    Obviously I ******* up.
    I now have no bookmarks.
I deleted the bookmarks.html in the profile folder other than the new one and apparently that was a mistake.
    My bad!

    There are 5 of them.
I would think I wouldn't want to restore them all?

Restore the biggest one (it should be the most recent one).

Strange, that was the one I left (in the profile) and therefore thought was restored.

At present I'm at the computer - sorry that's not what you meant, now is it? :D
I've set up some bookmarks and wondering if there is a way to see the old bookmarks w/out restoring them. I had too many before that really weren't necessary, so now I'm thinking having a lot less isn't so bad, though I'm sure there are some I'd like to get back. Any suggestions?
