Just realized when I tried to sign in that it's been over a year since I been on here.

This is kind of long but I'll try to explain all that's happen.

I recently lost power while Windows XP was shutting down. (my fault) This caused corrupt profile files in Thunderbird and Firefox profiles. Firefox would start but had no bookmarks and etc. Thunderbird refused to start. After running chkdsk in DOS, the corrupt files were deleted and restored. Firefox now started normal and ran normal with my bookmarks. Thunderbird would now start but had lost my profile.

I entered new account settings so I could start receiving mail.
I have a backup copy of my Thunderbird profile or thought I did. I had stored it in "My Documents ". With the help of a couple of Thunderbird Extensions. I was able to recover my address book and one mail folder, "Drafts ". I would really rather had my "Inbox" but when I try to import it I get nothing for it's empty?

With Thunderbird shutdown, looking in C:\Documents and Settings\*user name*\Application Data\Thunderbird\Profiles. I can find my mail folder with all my sub folders, including the Draft folder but they also all show empty??
I thought this was where Thunderbird had my working profile?

My question how can the mail folders be empty when I show mail in my Draft folder on Thunderbird?
I'm now confused as you can tell.

    Thanks

I never had your misfortune, but I back up my Profiles to an external drive, so it should be easy to restore them.
To the best of my understanding, when you have a problem like yours, you can either lose the link to the profile, and in your settings it is at the account|local directory, or everything is wiped out. This is not so likely, but the first place to look is at the Local directory level|browse.
Actually, in one case, when I had a similar problem (before getting the external drive), I had my mail backed up in My Documents, so I selected that path for my Local Directory, although it was outside the other profile files/folders. However, this section of Ramona's website should work.
I don't work with anything, supposedly, automatic, so I can't explain your issues. But, if you have created a new profile, and set up your account(s), it should be easy to get the old backed-up mail into the new profile.

    I found my problem.
When I set up my new profile I used my backup profile. So now my usable profile is in My Documents/Backup/Thunderbird/ Profile.

Also I didn't have any problem importing my mail once I used the correct file while using MboxImport extension. I was trying to import the folder. :(

Alls well now, other than my profile in a different location but I don't see a problem with that.

It is, actually, advantageous to have the profile out in the open, rather than hidden. As long as you know where it is, of course.
