    Hi All!,
I am posting this for the benefit of others. I just installed a new Sony DRU-835A DVD burner. This has the lightscribe feature. Every time I attempted to burn a label I received the following error:
    Event Type: Warning
    Event Source: LightScribeService
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 1
    Date: 4/16/2007
    Time: 8:53:55 PM
    User: N/A
    Computer: MARSYN-070707
    Description:
Win32 Error : Function: [HurricaneClientProxy::DoInputCommand] DeviceIoControl returned Win32 Error: 1784 Description: The supplied user buffer is not valid for the requested operation.

After searching for a while I found a number of references to the issue, but it seems everyone was just returning the drives as bad.
A visit to http://www.lightscribe.com revealed that one of the known issues was a problem with the Intel Application Accelerator. It has a registry setting that conflicts with drive communications. I downloaded the Lightscribe Diagnostic Utility, installed it, ran it and it fixed the problem!!
