When I click on games on the desktop the Games page opens--
Then when I click on the Solitaire Deck a green sreen opens like it always used to but no cards are dealt.
I tried clicking on DEAL but nothing happens all I get is a blank screen.
Used to work great, never no problems before.

    I am using IE6

    Help

You could try installing/reinstalling the games package.

Start - Settings - Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs - Windows Setup - highlight Accessories - click Details - uncheck Games - click OK. Now go back through the same steps and re-check Games in order to re-install.

    Solitarie

    Thanks Brett--but it didn,t work.
I uninstalled it like you suggested and when I went to reinstall it-it called for inserting my Windows disk which I did--and it made the motion of installing games and the games box showed up with a check mark in it, but when I hit Apply and closed out the box and returned to the desktop and clicked Games--same thing happened- Green screen --no cards.

    Any other thoughts.

    Thanks, Paul 43

Sorry, but I think that I may have completely misunderstood the nature of your problem! Were you referring to some type of online solitaire game as oppsed to the game which ships with Windows?

If so, maybe you could post a link.

Try this, using explorer got to c:\windows\sol.exe and double click on that, if it presents the same problem then delete the file and then go through the same motions as before in Add/Remove Programs. This way you can be sure you're actually getting a fresh copy of the file.

Kevin, no good on your suggestion.
When I was in Explorer I clicked on it and it still came up without the cards --so I deleted it.

Went thru control panel process and this time it came up asking for more thing from my Windows disk, but alas when iI reinstalled it the same thing happens.

What's strange is the Hearts & Minesweeper are still working normal.

One thing I noticed and I not sure if this icon has been here before this trouble started or not---but on the games page when it open I have an Icon which looks like an Notepad with-- "desktop ini "---under it.
When I click on it and open it there is a kinds of wording I don't understand.

    Any idea what that is?
    Paul

paul Have you installed any new AV software lately. I know that some of them interfere with Solitaire and Free Cell. There are patches available for that. Check your AV site.

This beats Windows card games by a bunch !!

I had the same problem with Freecell some time ago. It has since been fixed but I don't recommend what it took ( a format ) to fix it. :( I didn't format for that, but it did fix it.

Arkie posted a link for a free solitaire download that beats the Windows card games by a mile. There are several different solitaire games and Freecell. Get it here. That got my wife off my back about her Freecell not working but she got hooked on one of the solitaire games and I haven't seen her since. ;)

    HTH
