I have an SSD as a boot drive for Windows 7 x64. Programs are installed on the SSD, while data files are located on a 1.5TB hard drive. On a random basis I experience lock-ups for a period of about 2 minutes, then the process continues to function. The display shows the "Spinning blue wheel" mouse icon during this period. It then releases and returns to normal.

When I run Windows 7 performance monitor the behavior during the freeze is 100% SSD activity but no I/O. I notice that the disk activity is always at "100% Highest Active Time" solidly for this period. But the actual amount of disk activity doesn't look that high (<1Mb per second). Memory and CPU are never remotely stressed.

    Any ideas how to fix?

I have a 120 GB Corsair CSSD-F120 GB3-BK as a boot drive for Windows 7 x64. The Windows 7 operating system and all software programs are installed on the SSD. All other files are on a 1.5TB hard drive with 5 partitions. There is 6 GB of System memory. Other design info on the processor -

    2.90 gigahertz AMD Phenom II X6 1065T
    768 kilobyte primary memory cache
    3072 kilobyte secondary memory cache
    6144 kilobyte tertiary memory cache

It almost seems that there is a data overload in writing new data thereby calling for some type of data dump or writing data into a cache and stops responding until it can clear up the problem.

I suggest you check out Corsair's SSD forum.

Not many users have experience with SSD drives, so their manufacturers web sites are usually the best places for info.
