Who's the miscellaneous software guru here :)

I seem to remember there being a database of sorts, into which one can put in any word and it will search its database for matching data. To be specific:

If I enter "charger ", I could have, 6 months ago, notated where I stored a charger: in a corner cabinet, in the garage on the third shelf on the left, in the lower drawer of a cabinet in my bedroom, etc etc.

OR: Suppose I make a text file with that description in it, and do a text search in the folder that where that text file is located. That text file could say:

charger: located in the garage on the third shelf on the left

I'm sure you already have software that will do essentially what you want .....

Granted you could use MS Access or a similar database, but in reality way OTT.

Word & Excel both have a Find function so in either a Word doc or an Excel spreadsheet any word can be found, likewise in a text file.

    Of course !!!!

Make a WORD doc or the like (even Notebook would work)

    Save it as Stuff. doc

    Load it and enter

charger is in the left hand drawer under the stairs

    THEN

Load Stuff.doc and Ctrl-F for charger

if I did Ctrl F for drawer, I would find everything in every drawer
    ---------------------------

Where was I thinking:eek: It is that easy

Thanks for ignoring my stuffed head !!!

TreePad is an intuitive and powerful personal database program, PIM and personal data search engine. It allows you to store all your notes, emails, texts, hyperlinks, etc. into a single file. With the look and feel of the familiar Windows explorer, editing, storing, browsing, searching and retrieving your data can not be easier! TreePad can be run directly from a USB stick, including data. To find any article you previously created or imported, you can browse the tree, in the same way as you browse directories/folders in the Windows explorer. Alternatively, you can use the very fast internal search engine to instantly find any item you need!
