Resolved Software LibreOffice 3.6.1.

In Text Documents, currently when typing text and saving entry. On reopening the file at a later date, typing additional new text, first letter typed, line jumps several spaces down the page. This error has just started and help to solve this is most appreciated.

 

The only time I noticed this was when I was on a laptop, and the heel of my palm kept touching the touchpad.

I went into the control panel/Mouse settings, and set my touchpad to automatically turn off whenever there was a USB mouse plugged in. I'm not sure which touchpads or laptops have this setting, but that did it for me.

 

Thank you for replies. USB settings not available for my Microsoft mouse software. I thought that a setting would be available within LibreOffice 3.6.1.

 

Are you working on a laptop with a touchpad?

 

SpywareDr, thanks for your respond. My computer is an HP Presario Desktop, with mouse control. I have searched LibreOffice 3.6.1. software headings, but can not see any heading relating to my mentioned error.

2) I seriously doubt that LibreOffice will have a setting to Enable or Disable "Jump several spaces down the page after the first character is typed ".

3) Have you tried doing a System Restore back to a date before the problem started?

 

I have used this software for sometime now for recording daily weather conditions. Contents on page, is pre-enter 365 days of blank spaces to then record on a daily basis, weather recording. Error is after entering yesterday entry and saved, then to open next day and enter todays information, first letter typed jumps several lines down the page. When in fact on opening file it should return to the last entry made yesterday, not several lines further down. I made a restore of computer yesterday for other reason, but find this error still persists.

 

Since the day you opened this thread about the problem was the 5th, you'll need to restore back to before that date.

If that doesn't fix it, I'd try it on another computer to see if the problem lies with LibreOffice or with your computer. If the same problem occurs on both computers, you might want to report the bug to them.

If the problem is only on your computer, you might try uninstalling/reinstalling LibreOffice.

 

I certainly do not hit the key 365 times, well over a period of 1 year you could say that is correct. The file is opened initially and required contents entered as a data base, saved and reopened each day to enter that day's weather, saved, repeated each day with new information. I note that a new version of LibreOffice 3.6.2. is available. Installed new version LibreOffice 3.6.2., and it seems for the moment to have cleared my experienced error. My thanks to all offering help.
