I tried FF3 on my older XP laptop which I use for testing, and it was fine and I got my two desired extensions, IETab and Colorful Tabs.

So, I put FF3 on my two Core 2 Duo machines with nary a hitch.

On the machine where it counts, my work machine, FF3 solved for a second time problem with FF2 ceasing to "remember" and autofill email addresses used in my home ISP's web mail. I do this all day long to keep my home email up to date. For whatever reason, FF3 passed that test on that machine.

Sad to say this was not successful on my home machine, but there is does not much matter. I would, however, like it to work.

I did run down the about:config on the machines side by side and could not find an answer.

Aside from that, everything is hunky-dory.

    Richard,
how did you do what you did? You are not giving much in the way of a hint, if you installed FF3 on top of FF2, used the same profile, or what.

    Hey Westside-

I uninstalled FF2, but I did not remove any folders or files, so I assume FF3 took over the old profile, all of my boomarks, user id's, passwords, all in tact.

    Westside-

How does one get one's user agent string to show up? I looked in CP; but I found nothing.

    Richard,
you did things correctly, if all you wanted was to have 3.0.
As for the User Agent, it is up to the website. This website does not do it.
But you can copy the info from Help|About..., and paste it into the text area.
    I am using a Seamonkey2 nightly, so my User Agent is: Build identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9pre) Gecko/2008061402 SeaMonkey/2.0a1pre
And, I will need a different User Agent if I use FF3.

    Richard,

Your user agent string won't show up unless you choose to add it to your signature.

    Hey Ramona-

How's the trembling earth scene out there?

Did you happen to see my post about the autofilling thing in FF again? Remember it happened in FF2? I had to purge the machine of all things FF and re-install and redo bookmarks, user id's passwords, the whole megillah.

So, it happened again on the same machine. Now, I had two machines where FF would not autofill, NN9 will do it on both, SM will not on either.

I install FF3 on both machines, now it works on one-the important one, the one that I take to work and then use the ISP's web mail to keep up with home email. But, not on the other.

Well, I need a back up, because, you know, we all have our own little "killer-apps ". This is mine. I mean, you know, to have to look up the same email address twenty times a day in an Addressbook, not fun.

So, in desperation I loaded Safari. It worked through a re-boot. Then I uninstalled and got a fresh installer, installed, and the addresses I used to test were there!!

So, I guess that Safari may wind up as the back up.

I would like to have FF3 just do it, and SM as a back up, but I am not getting anywhere.

    Nice to talk to you.
