    Morning,

Trying to find out if there is anyway to monitor SMTP traffic - with the aid of a tool that can provide a visual representation. Ideally im looking to something that can provide a way to monitor the amount of emails being sent from an account.

I only place this in 2003 as it would be running on a 2003 server - apologies if this is not correct use of forums

    Regards

    Andrew

Is the SMTP traffic going through your own mailserver (e.g. Exchange)?

Does the SMTP traffic pass through the server (is the server also your internet gateway - this usually means the server has two network cards - one connected to your internal network and the other to the external router)?

What device provides your internet connection?

    Hi Reggie,

The server is a web server hosted in a data centre in london. It runs SMTP alongside other services. It sends emails based on forms and mailing lists.

It sits in front of a cisco firewall before hitting the network, but we have no access to the firewall itself.

It has two nics, but one is for public traffic and the second is for private traffic and backups.

Ideally what im looking for is something that can run and create reports based on activity through filters i provide, for instance if i provide an email address - it monitors all emails and alerts me if there is X amount of emails from Account A in X Time.

Happy to provide any more information
