smtp- get 501 error

    I am posting this question in this area as this seems to be the best area for e-mail Outlook Express setup:

    trying to set up ane-mail system with an e-mail notification program.
    Win 98, cable modem.
    I need the smtp server for hotmail or yahoo.
    when I get it I get a 501 error.

    There isn't a smtp server for Hotmail. Yahoo probably doesn't have one either.

    You can add hotmail via OE...When adding the account, if you put in your hotmail address it'll switch you to the HTTP setup.
