I've asked this before and still have never been ever to solve the problem.

I have all the necessary boxes checked but can NOT get the smiley faces to appear in my messages.

I was hoping that someone finally figured out the problem. There was a very short period when they did work. I can't figure out what happened.

    I am using Netscape 7.2

    Thanks.

You have to be set up in your account settings to compose mail in HTML.
But, you would not even find the toolbar, if you were not set up properly.
Next, you must send your mail in HTML, or both HTML and text.
What happens? Do you not see the yellow smilie, but you see the old-fashioned way?
In my opinion, the smilies are in the same category as other mail things which you can see, a pat on your ego , but others can't. If you send mail to yourself, and do it right, you should see the smilies, but others may not see them.

    vegaspat,

    Open Netscape Mail
Click on: Edit | Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings | Composition & Addressing
Ensure that "Compose Messages in HTML format" is selected

The recipient of your messages must also have HTML enabled in order to see your smileys.

Westside and Ramona,I have HTML and have had it set that way since day one. I did try to set it to HTML and Text but that didn't work either.

I've practice with everything I know of and have sent messages to myself but can not use the smilie face feature.

    Any other ideas?

    Thanks.

    vegaspat,

The setting for sending the message in HTML and Text, isn't in the Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings. Are you looking in the settings I referenced above for the composing in HTML:
Edit | Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings | Composition & Addressing

Actually the best setting to use here:
Edit | Preferences | Mail & Newsgroups | Send Format
is: "Ask me what to do "

If the above settings are correct, and you still aren't able to view the smiley's, then check this setting in the Mail window:

    View | Message Body As
    Select: View as Original HTML

Otherwise, create a new Profile, and see if your smiley's work.
