smart download

After reading several posts and replys I see that a lot of people don't really care for the smart download program---It's on my computer and I don't know that it has caused any problem but if it's a potential problem maybe I should remove it from my computer--Are there any responses (good or bad) to this statement---I'm really interested in your esperience with this program---

Some users think this is insignificant, but it offends me! I am a privacy advocate through and through, and have absolutely no tolerance for this kind of invasion!

In addition to my above rant I prefer to control my own downloads, and don't like to take chances with corrupt downloaded files, due to a third party download manager.
