    Hello all,

I know this may sound like an odd question, but I was wondering if anyone knew of a small free bbs program that we could use for our organization?

I'm the VP for a booster (high school band, only about 10 members not including the band) organization, and have grown tired of sending/receiving email to/from everyone every time we find a sponsor, have a change in dates, need extra help, and so on.

I have 10M web space with my ISP and was thinking that this could be a great way to use it... IF I can find BBS software (free) that is small enough to live there... A place where any of us can log on and post a message.... ah.. life should be so good!

    Any thoughts?
    Thanks

Thanks for the links. I did try a few searches but, generally I find that someone here already knows which programs are best for the job.

    Thanks again

For what you want and for the limited amount of web space you have, the free version of Discus should do nicely.

You will need to know if the server is running Unix/Linux or Windows but that's about all and it will do most of the work for you.

The code for the English version is small and shouldn't eat up much of your space just to load the program piece.

LOL I'm not allowed to upload anything to my cgi-bin. Oh well, it was a good try, and DiscusWare looks to be a nice little program.

Guess I'll start looking for a fancy guest book instead.

Thanks again for all the help

    YahooGroups?

I belong to a small local club, and we use YahooGroups for our communication. If someone posts a message, the others can either opt for individual emails for notification, get a daily digest of the day's messages in text form, or check the web page to read the posts. The owner of the group can customize the settings for your group's specific needs ( like attachments on or off, membership open or needing approval, etc etc)
