I really love Netscape in general. When I upgraded to 7.1, the speed of downloading dropped dramatically from that experienced in my earlier version (as well as what I get from IE in comparison).

Can this be corrected. Using latest XP system on a cable modem.

No other problems. Thanks in advance.

    Welcome to the Forum, dogman!

    Hi dogman,

It could be that in the Download Manager, the list of files that you have downloaded has become too large. When this happens it tends to slow down the process.

    Close Netscape & Quick Launch
    Open Windows Explorer
    Navigate to your Profiles Folder:
    C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\profilename\*.slt
    Delete: downloads.rdf

You can also delete the listings in:
    Tools | Download Manager
    Highlight the files or CTRL+A
    Then click: Remove from list
You might consider doing this as routine maintenance

This time, however, I would delete the downloads.rdf file.

    HTH,

    Ramona :D

Hi Ramona, thanks for the tip, I could not believe how many files were in my download manager. Did not even know about how bring it up until I saw your tip.

    You're most welcome, Marv6.

Yes, those files accumulate more quickly than you can imagine. One more item to add to your preventive maintenance list! ;)
