I have a Dell P4 2.0Ghz with 1 Gb of ram. Startup time now takes several minutes.

Is there a program of some sort that would let me speed this up?

    TIA

Start with Black Vipers Site and shutting down services that are not needed at startup. Takes some time to get through but will be time well spent. Look for a folder, usually within the C:\Windows folder (C:\WINNT on some systems) named Prefetch. Open it, select all and delete. Contains references to programs used and supposed to make them load faster, but gets very full and slows things down. Scan for and remove spyware/malware using Spybot and Ad-aware. Links in my signature. Always update them before running.
