    hi,
not sure if this is netscape specific problem but thought i'd start here

i use netscape as a development tool - to see how users probably see the site - otherwise i use IE6

several pages on a site i administer load very slowly - but only those pages - all other sites i go to using netscape work fine

i've had others check the pages and the load works normally on their PCs

wondering if there's a netscape setting or windows setting that has gone to the dark side
    - it seems specific to my 2 PCs and to this particular site

    slow load page: here

    would appreciate any suggestions

    other info:
W98SE, cable, router, IE6, Netscape 4.79 (was 4.72 but uninstalled and did a clean install per one of ramona's links)

    Welcome to the Forum!

    Hi jbcalg,

I tried your slow link with Communicator 4.79, and Netscape 6.2.2. The results were good:

    Communicator: 26 seconds
    Netscape 6: 12 seconds

My dial up connection today is only 36,000 bps.

    What you can check:
Do you have Java/JavaScript enabled in Communicator?
    With Netscape closed:
Delete your Cache files, including fat.db
    Delete your netscape.hst file

Let us know if this helps.

    Ramona :D

deleted the fat.db and netscape.hst files

    checked the java/javascript (i think)
    in the edit/preferences/advanced section
    - left all checked, unchanged from install so i'll assume it's the default settings

    communicator: 55 seconds
    connection: cable LOL

    other suggestions?

i've gone to similar sites, on the same web host even witout any difficulties and all the pages load in a flash (my cable download is fast)

    thx
